This letter is from Elaine Haney, a resident of Dunbar Drive in Essex Junction.

I dropped off my ballot today at 81 Main St. — I am so excited about the possibility of becoming the City of Essex Junction!

I voted YES. I’m looking forward to paying taxes to only one municipality. I’m looking forward to my taxes working directly for my community. I’m looking forward to leaving the divisiveness behind. I can’t wait to start working on our community’s future!

If you haven’t voted yet, please don’t forget! You can pop your ballot in the mail (make sure you mail it by no later than Oct. 25), drop it off at 81 Main Street in the secure ballot box, or vote in-person at the polls on between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Essex High School.

If you haven’t already voted and you have questions, you can get answers from the Village website (https://www.essexjunction.org/independence) and/or from the Our Village Our Voices website (www.ourvillageourvoices.org).

Becoming the City of Essex Junction is a great way forward for our community. Whether it’s affordability, fair taxation, more control, an end to the feuding, or the potential for the future, I hope you’ll join me in voting yes to become a city.
