The second installment of the Coffee Chat with the Chief series, a police community engagement initiative facilitated in collaboration with the Essex Community Justice Center, is set for this Friday, March 26.
From 9-10:30 a.m., members of the public can have an informal, virtual conversation with Essex Police Chief Ron Hoague who will answer questions and hear about issues facing the community.
“The first one was really positive, and I really enjoyed being able to connect the police department with citizens and give them some insight into what we do and how well we do it,” said Hoague. “From the beginning, we designed this to be different than the usual, formal government meeting. I’m hoping that this can be an informal place to get to know people and let them get to know me and other members of the department.
“We want to ‘humanize the badge’ and let people know that we are members of the community, too, and care as much as they do. We hope that when the COVID crisis is over, we can do some in person as well as continuing online formats.”
