What’s your dream?

November 20, 2012

Our Editor, Elsie Lynn, attended Higher Ground’s screening of “The Dream Factory” on Nov. 7.

Here’s her take on the film:

Daron Rahlves in the northern Chugach, Alaska while filming with TGR for their upcoming film: “The Dream Factory”

Since I was young, snow has been one of my favorite things. All summer long, I dream of the first snow and the first tracks that soon follow. Having skied all my life, there is little else that makes me as happy as a good pow day!

Two weeks ago at Higher Ground I was swept away by yet another Teton Gravity Research film “The Dream Factory.” This flick admits last winter was a joke in the lower 48; so the TGR team of skiers and riders headed to Alaska.

Vignettes of Alaska from the 1920s pepper this year’s footage, showing that the love of adventure and extreme skiing is not new. TGR bounces over decades juxtaposing the old and new footage. Skiers and riders in the film lust after new territory as much as they enjoy skiing historic lines that have stood the test of time.

“The Dream Factory” is a warming history of the extreme skier and for all of those who dream big!

As always, think snow :)
