The Staff looks back…and ahead…

December 27, 2012

We’re a reflective bunch here at The Essex Reporter. We’ve been swapping stories and sharing memories of 2012 all month. In preparation for the New Year, we’ve also made some resolutions. Here’s a sampling of some good times and personal goals:

Kelly Malone

A favorite 2012 memory:
On Jan. 1, 2012, the Giants played the Cowboys. I received free tickets for seat that were unbelievable. I am a Giants fan, but my partner, Michael, is a Cowboys fan. The Cowboys lost, thankfully, and it was fun to hear Michael being heckled for choosing the wrong team to root for!

New Year’s Resolution:
To take one picture every day

Elsie Lynn:

A favorite 2012 memory:
In March 2012, I walked into All Breeds Rescue in South Burlington and came out with Lucille — a pure white, crystal-blue-eyed, 40-pound ball of fluff of a dog. She’s a Samoyed-Husky mix who has definitely changed my life. Currently, Lucille is learning to mush so she can pull me on cross-country skis this winter.

New Year’s Resolution:
To learn CSS computer code

Wendy Ewing:

ItalyA favorite 2012 memory:
In February we hired Kelly Malone to work in our Sales Department. Not only did our office gain a talented sales representative, but I gained a friend!

New Year’s Resolution:
To continue my study of the Italian language. Buon Anno!

tennisChris Saracco

A favorite 2012 memory:
I always look forward to seeing my two nieces, but they live in Connecticut — too far away! This August, they visited me for a few days and we went sailing together on Malletts Bay.

New Year’s Resolution:
We always talk about it, but it never actually happens. This year, I will play tennis with Susan Bondaryk.

A favorite 2012 memory:
I enjoyed every moment in my very first community garden plot this summer. From the planning phases to weeding to planting and finally harvesting — it was a thrill that I’ve never experienced before. I can’t wait for next summer!

New Year’s Resolution:
To read one book a month…and to beat Chris Saracco in a tennis match.

A favorite 2012 memory:
I visited Lake Michigan with my partner, Mark and his family for a week in July. The whole experience was wonderful: great weather and great food. If you’re ever in Michigan, seek out Tom’s Mom’s Cookies — their white chocolate chip cookies are divine.

New Year’s Resolution:
A few of us in the office are signed up for the Middlebury Maple Run this May. My goal is to finish it in less than 2 hours. Time to start training!

A favorite 2012 memory:
My son, Sammy, celebrated his 1st birthday in October and it was so exciting to see him devour his first slice of ice cream cake!

New Year’s Resolution:
To enjoy every moment
