Warriors clinch three state titles

The Essex Warrior youth wrestling team hosted the Vermont championships for third- through sixth-graders at Essex High School on Saturday. With over 260 wrestlers from across Vermont participating in the event, the Warriors claimed three state champions. Jameson Arpey, Gil Stawinski and Ethan Roque each placed first in their respective weight classes to win individual titles.
Second-place finishers included Neil Peterson, Jacob Sunderland, Wyatt Lamell, Seth Carney and Ben Stewart, while Liam Chisholm and James Danis both finished in third. Fourth place was awarded to Trevor Mendes and William Danis, with William Einhorn placing fifth and Calvin Leo finishing in sixth.
The Warriors ended the day with 22 pins, 45 wins and 34 losses. The coaches are excited about the improvement all the wrestlers made throughout the year and are looking forward to another successful season in 2014.
