EHS storms XC championships

The Essex High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams both finished second in the large school division of the NVAC Metro Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Missisquoi.

Led by Rachel Pinto (fifth of 180) and Rose Monahan (sixth), the girls’ team edged Mt. Mansfield for second place by 15 points. Metro power Champlain Valley Union topped the Hornets by 34 points, with Burlington and BFA-St. Albans rounding off the girls’ top five.

The boys’ team – led by Alex Dewitt (sixth of 234), Micah Lemmel-Hay (ninth), Jonah Lavigne (10th) and Jesse Earisman (11th) – finished second behind South Burlington by 36 points. The Hornets edged Champlain Valley Union for second place by only three points, with Mt. Mansfield and Burlington rounding out the boys’ top five.

The Hornets will compete in the state championships at Thetford Academy on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The following results list the rank and times of the Hornet’s top 50 individual finishers in the NVAC Metro Championships.
